Scientific Research and Development Services
The company provides independent applied research services, predominantly but not exclusively aimed at the evaluation and development of potential products, crop, plant varieties and technical services. The following is a listing of some of the areas where the company has special experience and expertise:
- Chemical and biological pesticides, including herbicides, insecticides, miticides, fungicides, nematicides, growth regulators, molluscicides, rodenticides and fertilisers - planning and conduct of R&D programs, individual field and laboratory experiments, out-of-season field and laboratory testing for northern hemisphere clients. Efficacy, phytotoxicity and residue aspects can be considered.
- Veterinary chemicals including animal health and veterinary ethical products such as ectoparasiticides and endoparasiticides for small and large animals, vaccines, and other therapeutic and prophylactic veterinary medicines - planning and conduct of R&D programs, primary screening, individual field, pen and laboratory experiments, out-of-season field and laboratory testing for northern hemisphere clients. Efficacy, safety and residue aspects can be considered.
- Evaluation of products for the public and environmental health markets, such as insecticides, rodenticides, termiticides, traps, lures, personal insect repellents and marine anti-foulants.
- General agronomic R&D including crop and variety testing and evaluation, development of plant protection programs, comparative trialing for Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) applications, and preparation of PBR applications including descriptions.
- Industry Research - research on rural industry problems through funding from industry research councils and other organisations and individuals.
Regulatory Affairs Consulting
Agrisearch has regulatory specialists on staff enabling the company to offer the following services:
- Preparation of applications to the APVMA, from minor label changes to registration of a new active constituent.
- Complete registration management service. This can include liaison with the APVMA, maintaining secure records correspondence, APVMA approved labels, final printed labels, packaging and artwork.
- Applications to ANZFA for gene technology crops/foods to be added to Standard A 18.
- Applications to the (interim) OGTR for importing of gene technology crops and approvals for contained, deliberate and general release.
- Preparation and updating of MSDS to meet the latest requirements of NOHSC and Worksafe.
- Preparation of Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) applications including descriptions.
- Preparation of applications to New Zealand authorities.
Litigation Consulting
Loss assessment, opinions and expert witnessing, especially in cases requiring expert knowledge and experience of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, crop protection and animal health.
Project Management
The company will undertake the overall management of applied R&D programs on behalf of clients.
Agrisearch Laboratory Services
A number of laboratory tests are available including:

- Buffalo fly resistance tests
- Seed viability
- Heliothis and aphid bioassay
- Formulation stability testing
Field Research Contracting
- Field trial harvesting with Hege 125 and Kingaroy plot harvesters.
- Seeding and planting of field trials with cone-seeders and other equipment.
Marketing
The company will undertake market surveys of a technical nature in agriculture and related areas. The company itself is not concerned with the marketing of any relevant product on its own behalf and does not accept commissions on sales.
After being heavily involved in the R&D aspects of a new product, the company is happy to provide on-going technical services to client and distribution staff and to potential customers relating to the technical aspects of the product and its use.
Educational
Members of the company are approved course providers for the AGSAFE Personnel Accreditation Farm Chemical Training Course and both open (multi-client) and closed (one client) schools are run.
The company runs seminars on topics related to field research methodology, crop and animal protection, agricultural and veterinary chemical use, and other areas related to its overall activities.
General Consulting
The company also provides consulting services in areas such as assistance with agricultural and chemical aspects of environmental impact reports and studies, crop and animal protection, chemical and biological pesticides and other related areas.
Analysis of Pesticide Residues
Our sister company, Agrisearch Analytical, is a contract laboratory dedicated to the analysis of pesticide residues in animal and plant tissues, waters, soils and agricultural commodities. Some of the testing services offered include:
- Residue analysis of animal and plant tissue, soil and water samples for parent analyte and metabolites
- Surveillance analysis for the food industry
- Method development/validation
- Storage stability
