A comprehensive range of field and laboratory equipment is available including: sprayers, harvesters, seeders, tractors, tillage and animal handling and weighing equipment. In addition laboratory and computer facilities for diagnosis, treatment and statistical analysis are available, as are glass houses and controlled environment rooms.
A freezer van, based at Orange, transports frozen samples regularly throughout south-east Australia.
A wide range of insect and pathogen cultures is maintained or available from convenient sources. The main insects are: American and German cockroaches, fleas, mosquito (Aedes, Culex), Australian plague locust, cattle tick (Boophilus), sheep blowfly (Lucilia cuprina), house and bush flies (Musca), and bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera).
Facilities for public and environmental health pest control and resistance testing are available, as are facilities for topical application, feeding studies, and mode of action studies with insecticides.
